Tom Schinke '64

Tom Schinke '64Tom Schinke, Class of 1964, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and baseball, earning eight varsity letters during his high school career. A four-year letter winner in baseball and a two year letter winner in both football and basketball, he was named captain of all three sports his senior year and was selected to the 1st team all-conference squad in football and baseball. Tom was also selected by the coaches as the Outstanding Senior Athlete at Badger High School. Upon graduation, he played football and baseball at University of Wisconsin-Madison. After walking on at the UW in football his freshmen year, he was rewarded with a full athletic scholarship for his final three years. During his football career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tom was a three year letter winner, while leading the team in scoring, interceptions, punt return yardage and kick return yardage during both the 1966 and 1967 seasons. He was selected to the 2nd Team All-Big Ten squad and earned All-American Honorable Mention honors during his senior season. Tom was also selected to the All-Big Ten 1st Team in baseball in 1968, as he lead the UW baseball team in runs scored, triples and homeruns. He was also selected to the Topps 1st Team All-American baseball squad his senior year. While at UW, Tom earned a total of 5 varsity letters in football and baseball.

Inducted into the Badger Athletic Wall of Fame in 2006.
