Badger Marketing Students Earn CertificationStudents in the senior level Advanced Marketing (AM) course at Badger High School have been preparing to take the Customer Service and Sales certification for the past two weeks in class.  Though the test is given in Advanced Marketing, through courses over the past two years, students have been preparing by taking the pre-requisites, Marketing I & II classes.  This course sequence allowed them to prepare for the content standards of learning about products/services, assessing and meeting customer needs, and educating customers.

To prepare and review for the test, students created games and activities to do together.  Ryan Ripkey and Seth Murphy used their creativity to create a fictional customer service character named Jerry for one of the review games.  Students had to toss paint-covered paper at Jerry and, depending on where it landed, had to handle a specific customer complaint.

The test focuses on three levels of customer service and sales skills standards: Learns About Products and/or Services; Assesses and Meets Customer Needs; and Educates Customers. The certificate is sponsored by the National Retail Federation Foundation.

All fourteen students who took the 90-minute, 75-question examination passed.  Earning this certification provides proof of learning as well as validation that the skills they learned in marketing and businesses classes are helping our business community.
