Dick Burnett, Class of 1958, a three sport letterman for the Lake Geneva High School Resorters, was known as the "scoring ace," setting multiple school and conference scoring records in basketball during his four-year career (1955-58).
In three years as a varsity starter in basketball, he set the school record with a total of 1,013 career points, scoring 439 of those his final year. This record still stands, as his senior year was the last year of Lake Geneva High School before becoming part of Badger High School in 1959. He also set the single game scoring record, scoring 43 points in a conference game against Mukwonago.
He finished his senior year by being selected to the Southern Lakes Conference All-Conference squad and was named Conference Player of the Year by the Southern Lakes Sportswriters Association.
Upon graduation, Burnett went on to play basketball for Ripon College, later transferring to UW-Whitewater. As of 2015, Dick Burnett resides in St. Charles, Missouri.
Inducted into the Badger Athletic Wall of Fame in 2015.
