Howard "Pete" Grabbert '47

Howard "Pete" Grabbert '47Howard “Pete” Grabbert, Class of 1947, was a four-time letter winner in football, four-time letter winner in basketball, and two-time letter winner in golf. Pete also participated in baseball at Lake Geneva High School. He was co-captain of the football and basketball teams his senior year. Pete was one of the leading scorers of the SWANI League (Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois League) during his senior year of basketball. He was also the only player from the SWANI League to be selected to the All-Star South Football Squad to play in the High School All-Star Football Game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Upon graduation, Pete played seven years with the Red Devils semi pro football team. He was selected as one of the top eleven all-time players in Red Devils history (1919-1955) and is the 3rd leading scorer in team history with 199 points. In 1954, Pete kicked a team record nine extra points in one game, breaking the old record of five established in 1931.

Inducted into the Badger Athletic Wall of Fame in 2005.
