Emily Russart, Class of 2010, is the measure for success in high school swimming. Her accomplishments in the pool span her entire high school career and are significant in number. Emily was a four year letter winner and a 3 time team MVP. Emily won her first state title as a sophomore in the 100 yard breaststroke, at the same time setting a new WIAA record in the event. During her junior year Emily won 2 WIAA state titles, again in the 100 yard breaststroke and in the 200 yard medley relay. At the same meet she finished 4th in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 7th in the 200 yard individual medley. She was named to the WIAA All-State team in 4 different events, as well as earning the 2008 Southern Lakes Conferences Athlete of the Year Award. She concluded her high school swimming career with a 3rd consecutive WIAA State title in the 100 yard breaststroke, in the process breaking her previous state record in the event. She also finished 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in other events at the 2009 WIAA State Swim Meet. Emily continues to hold the Southern Lakes Conference record in the 100 yard breaststroke, the 200 yard individual medley, and the 200 yard medley relay. Her success in the pool earned her a qualifying spot for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke. Emily attended Northwestern University on a swimming scholarship, and finished her academic career with a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Nursing. Emily currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin.
