Doug Gerber, Class of 1946, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and tennis, earning eleven varsity letters during his high school career. He was a four-year letter winner in football, earning All-State honors as running back and linebacker his senior year. Upon graduation, he played one year of football at Marquette University and then three years at LaCrosse where he was a three-year letter winner and All-Conference player his senior year. In basketball, Doug collected four varsity letters. He was a member of the 1942-43 and 1944-45 conference champion teams. The 1944-45 squad also claimed a Regional Championship. Doug was also a three year letter winner in tennis. His senior year, he qualified for the WIAA State Tennis Meet. After his college years, Doug returned to Badger to serve 26 years as Athletic Director. During his tenure at Badger, the athletic program expanded from 6 varsity sports to 17 varsity sports and 39 teams at various levels. In 1984, Doug was recognized as the District 6 State Athletic Director of the Year. While working at Badger, he also coached football, basketball, gymnastics, track, golf and baseball.
Inducted into the Badger Athletic Wall of Fame in 2005.
