Richard Kahn, Class of 1960, earned 9 varsity letters while participating in football, basketball and baseball at both Lake Geneva High School and Badger High School. He was a member of the 2nd graduating class of Badger High School. Dick is still considered by many as one of the best pound for pound athletes in Badger history. Dick was the quarterback of the football team, earning First Team All Conference honors during the 1959 season. He played point guard on the basketball team, where he led the team in scoring, and earned Second Team All Conference honors during his senior season. During this season he presented Badger High School with the first basketball championship trophy in school history by winning the Regional championship. Finally, Dick was the starting second baseman on the 1959 Southern Lake Conference champions baseball team. Dick continued his athletic success at the college level, playing both varsity football and basketball for the United States Merchant Marine Academy. This culminated in Dick being selected as the recipient of the Academy’s Alumni “Esprit de Corps” award. Dick continues to be active in sports, serving as a basketball official. Dick currently resides in Orange County, California.
