Arthur E. Luchter, Class of 1962, was amongst the first group of graduates who attend ed Badger High School all four years. While attending Badger High School, Arthur made a name for himself as a two-sport, stand-out athlete. He earned two varsity letters in basketball and three varsity letters in track. During his junior year track season, Arthur earned the right to compete at the 1961 state competition and finished 5th in the high hurdles. At the conference meet his senior year, he placed 1st in the high hurdles, 2nd in the low hurdles, and 2nd in the high jump. He qualified for the state track meet in each of those events. Arthur finished 2nd in the high jump, 3rd in the high hurdles, and 4th in the low hurdles at the state meet and scored all of Badger’s team points that year. He finished his high school track career earning four state tournament medals. Upon graduating high school, Arthur attended the United States Air Force Academy and also competed on their track and field team, winning multiple events in 1962 and 1963.
